MOTIVATION

WHAT MOTIVATES YOU? In my opinion, too many people are driven by things that are surface and materialistic. This is a problem. The extrinsic rewards will only take a person so far in life. The intrinsic rewards are what makes our heart beat. You can make your house look nice on the outside, but you need to furnish the inside with love and care to make it a home. We live in homes, not cardboard cutouts. People need to go beyond the surface to find substance and meaning, and therein lies true motivation and purpose for living. I feel that motivation that burns within the fire of passion and desire is what people should bask in. This motivation burns bright with flames of enlightenment.

The Power of Words

“Two prisoners whose cells adjoin communicate with each other by knocking on the wall. The wall is the thing which separates them but is also their means of communication. It is the same with us and God. Every separation is a link.” -Simone Weil

"There is more than a verbal tie between the words common, community, and communication." -John Dewey

DIVERSITY ART & ESSAY CONTEST!

for high school and middle school students

The Interfaith Dialogue Center (IDC) is pleased to announce the 2nd Annual Diversity Art & Essay Contest for students 9th to 12th grade in New Jersey. Students will be awarded more than $10,000. This year's theme is Who is My Neighbor? Visit the contest website for more information.

IDC's Art & Essay contest for middle school and high school students was held first time in 2010. We received over 750 entries from all over NJ. You can see last year's Award Ceremony and winners by visiting this link, and this link. You may watch the video of the award ceremony, just click here. There are important values that help keep societies afloat, with this in mind IDC has undertaken this important project. IDC organizes the DIVERSITY ART&ESSAY CONTEST to instill some of these values in our young and to give them a forum with various platforms in which they can express their understanding and analysis of these values. Contest will be held in two categories where students will be awarded generously. More information is available at our web site.
